Booking a Hong Kong ID card appointment
How the official booking system works and how to find a slot without paying anyone for one.
Draft for review by the operating entity's legal adviser before publication.
The only booking channel
- Appointments are made through the Immigration Department’s online booking service (also in its mobile app). There is no paid priority channel; anyone selling guaranteed slots is reselling the same public system.
Practical tips
- Slots are released on a rolling basis; check at different times of day and consider every office, not only the one nearest you.
- Have your travel document details ready before you start: the form times out.
- If you cannot get a slot inside your 30 days, keep a record of your attempts and register at the earliest date you can.
